Microsoft Office 2016 Public Preview Released on May 5th, 2015

The Microsoft Office 2016 Public Preview has been released to the general public as of May 5th, 2015. Unlike the previous IT Pro and Developer Preview of Office 2016, this preview is not solely limited to Office 365 subscribers. The Microsoft Office 2016 public preview allows the general public to download and test the preview versions of Microsoft Office 2016 for both Office 365 and for the downloadable desktop versions of Office.

The Microsoft Office 2016 public preview allows all Microsoft Office users to download and use the newest “preview” version of the software. Users should be aware that the Microsoft Office 2016 public preview will not contain all of the features that will be available within the final release of the software. However, new features will be added to the preview version in the coming months. The final version of the Office 2016 software is anticipated to be released to the public in the Fall of 2015.

Users who are interested in testing the Microsoft Office 2016 public preview should also know that they will need to be skilled users who are comfortable installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling different Office versions on their PC. They should also be able to troubleshoot computer problems that may arise and have the ability to backup data. If you are currently using Office 2013, note that you must uninstall Office 2013 before installing the Microsoft Office 2016 public preview, as the two versions of Microsoft Office cannot be installed side by side.

In addition, users should be willing to provide feedback to the developers at Microsoft on the features they like, as well as any technical issues or problems that they notice when using the Microsoft Office 2016 public preview. You can send feedback to the development team by clicking the “Send a Smile” button that appears in the upper-right corner of any application to send a message to them.

To learn more about the requirements for using the Microsoft Office 2016 public preview, or to install the software, you can visit the official Microsoft Office 2016 Public Preview page. This page will show you how to install the Microsoft Office 2016 public preview for home and enterprise versions of Office 365, as well as install the home version for all other Office users.
